Mary Beth Schiros, member of Art at the Market since 2006. Mary was born in Flint MI, and currently living in Grand Blanc, MI. Mary has a Bachelor or Science, from the University of Michigan. Mary is also a certified watercolor instructor 2004, from Alexander Art and Simply Painting. Mary has taken courses from, Joe Fettingis, http://www.jfettingis.com/ and Kathleen Conover "Chaos to Order"http://www.kathleenconover.com/, and studied for many years at the FIA. Mary is also a member of several local art associations: the Fenton Artist Guild, Grand Blanc Arts, GFAC, and SAC. Mary has been in many group shows since 2006, first solo show was at Boundless Arts in Grand Blanc MI, 2008, http://boundlessarts.com/Boundless_Arts/Home.html Mary teaches water media painting at Boundless Arts Gallery. Teaching brings to the surface what has been gained through years of practice, putting it on a conscious level. Mary feels that sharing the experience is as important as sharing the material product of art. Helping to develop a community around art will help a community expand and grow. Mary is wife to Joseph Schiros and mother to Jay Kyle. Mary’s home is also home to 2 rescued racing greyhounds, Yuri and Maggie, and 4 cats. Mary’s other hobbies include making oriental fighter kites, gardening, and sport shooting. The media Mary works in is water media, watercolor, acrylic, and casein. Mary has been painting over 30 years, and does not give a date for becoming and artist because is just a way of life that is growing and changing as time goes on. Inspiration comes from nature, the human form and imagination. Mary’s work offers a view of life in vibrant color and design. The ability to draw and understand design is the strong foundation of an artist and painter, and shows in her work. Understanding the spontaneous nature of water media allows the artist to expand the character of the media, highlighting and illuminating for its own uniqueness.
